IEQG was founded in 1981 by Virginia “Rusty” Hedrick with just 13 members and has grown to over 90 + members today. According to The Press Enterprise article from Thursday August 6, 1981, Rusty was a locally known instructor in the intricacies, preservation and promotion of quilting, having learned the art as a child in Kansas from her mother. Charter members included the following quilters; Diana Hedrick, Everlyn Gourley, Karen Pylman, Patricia Palva, Lois Purchase, Sandra Fielding, Christine Calitri, Camilla Kurowski, Lesly Edgar, Karen Wayne, Anita Reynolds, Rebecca Larson and Hilda Nauman. Members came from Mira Loma, Riverside, Fontana, Bloomington, Chino, Hacienda Heights, Ontario and Corona. Meetings originally met at 7 PM at the Norco Community Center Complex on the second and third Mondays of the month. We now meet in the Corona Senior Center at 7 PM on the second and fourth Mondays. IEQG has hosted many quilt shows through out our 28 year history. The first Quilt show was titled “ Inland Empire Quilters Guild Convention” as was held at the Ben H. Lewis Hall of Riverside’s Raincross Square on Friday August 5, 1981 through Sunday August 7, 1981. This years Quilt Show is titled “ IEQG’s Country Quilt Show” and is being held Friday and Saturday, May 1st and 2nd in Norco, California at the Norco Community Center—Riley Gym. Other venues for our Quilt shows have been at In 1986 the Guild hosted the 3rd annual “Inland Empire Quilters Guild’s Invitational Quilters Showcase” in which they also showcased quilts from Hemet Valley Quilt Guild. There were also 17 other Southern California Quilt Guilds that submitted more than 130 entries for this event. The two day event had over 4000 visitors of all ages and genders with a whopping 2500 in just the first four hours.
